Campbell, CA (PRWEB) July 11, 2013

BMW Officially Announces i3 Release Date

BMW announced this week that it would bring out the production model i3 on July 29, 2013. However, many details have already leaked out about the car, or have otherwise been revealed in bits and pieces by BMW. The 167-horsepower EV will be a rear-wheel-drive vehicle capable of traveling about 90 miles per charge. The German automaker intends to offer an add-on two-cylinder combustion engine as a range-extender. In that case, the i3 will have a total range of almost 200 miles. So far, the car has proven to be quite popular, as more than 100,000 consumers have entered their names on a test-drive request form. For the complete story, see:

Cobo Center Readied for 2014 NAIAS

Detroits Cobo Center, regular host of the North American International Auto Show, will finish its three-year expansion in early 2015, but vendors for the January 2014 show will witness the facility in a state of near-completion. Already, show officials have said they expect attendance to reach the 800,000 level. Vendors are asking for more space in 2014 and they will get plenty of it. A 40,000 square-foot ballroom offers an additional 25,000 square-feet of meeting areas, while the new atrium itself boasts a 30,000 square-foot open space. For the complete story, see:

Prius Sales Hit 3 Million

Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp. has announced that cumulative global sales of the Prius automobile have exceeded three million units as of the end of June 2013. The car arrived in showrooms in December of 1997, becoming the first mass-produced hybrid-electric passenger car. In 2003, and then again in 2009, the Prius was completely redesigned. While Prius is currently sold in more than 60 nations, the vast majority of sales occur in the U.S. and Japan. In fact, of the three million sold, 1,325,000 were in the Japanese market and 1,335,000 were in the U.S., leaving just about 11 percent of total sales for other markets. For the complete story, see:
